Quoting Brian E. Lavender (brian(a)brie.com):
I tried checking the svlug site and it looks like not
out there. Anybody
know what happened to them?
Short version: The Linode virthost had a security problem and now needs
to be rearchitected from scratch. I've not yet been able to spare the
time to do that.
For years, several other volunteers made a series of bad software
decisions that increased the security risks, in violation of the
volunteer team's agreements and without consulting me as lead sysadmin,
and ignored my pointing this out and objecting to them violating our
policies. Eventually, the system suffered security failure and Linode,
Inc. management notified us of the breach. I elected to take
www.svlug.org (which is also
ns1.svlug.org) offline. As nobody else
gives a damn, apparently the job of rearchitecting the Web site falls to
me, and I'll do it when and if I find time.
Meanwhile.
lists.svlug.org is still there, being a separate virthost at
prgmr.com .
