Thinkpad X1 carbon arrived! sudo works using the fingerprint reader. I
ran updates to get the firmware updates and I upgraded to F39. Screen
is awesome! I guess it is a 2k screen. Fedora is set to zoom at 200%.

From the other
end of the spectrun, I just picked up:
Dell 14" TOUCHSCREN Laptop Core i5 2.40GHz 16GB RAM 500GB SSD/256 WiFi Bluetooth
on Ebay for $155. It's used. Looks new.
My previous Dell Laptop had some install issues. I had attempted to keep the Windows OS
intact, "just in case."
This time I just blew everthing away during the Fedora 38 install and I had absolutly no
issues and everything works.
The nice thing about this laptop, that I haven't had before, is that it has a backlit
keyboard and a touchscreen. Most of the stuff on Ebay seemes to have a touchscreen, which
was a change from when I got the other Dell about 3 months ago.
On a separate note, I just picked up a used Chromebook.
I know nothing about Chromebooks. I just got it yesterday for $20. I have a home
automation and entertainment use for it.
But it has an option to install Linux. So I did. It seems to be some kind of Debian. I
was able to set up a VNC client over an SSH tunnel to my home system, which is something I
like to do. It worked fine, but was slow with the screen refreshes. Using the playstore
side got me nowhere. It has Mathematica and some music apps installed that I'm looking
forward to playing with too.

It's soldered! 64 gb is the maximum
configuration I was able to do. When I ordered it, I am pretty sure it had a 50%
discount.
