Yes, I can see how that would work if you want to play a sound file. But if you want to
play whatever happens to be coming out of the speakers, I think it is problematic.
It looks like pipewire and pipewire-pulseaudio are both installed. It seems I can use the
pulseaudio tools. Why pacmd seems MIA, I'm not sure. I must have a config problem
somewhere.
After I get the audio working, it will be interesting to see what pipewire does with video
as compared to VNC, which I use a lot. It's nice to keep all your files and data in
one place that is fairly secure and it also cuts down on bandwidth when searching the web,
which is nice when you are on a skinny pipe.
I found some docs this morning that don't look too bad. I don't know how I missed
them before. Sleeping on it helps a lot I guess :)

going to do some pacmd stuff on one of my recent Fedora 38 installs when I found out I am
actually running pipewire-pulse instead of pulseaudio. It's suppose to be a seamless
dropin for pulseaudio, but pacmd doesn't seem to see it.
The man pages and online documentation for pipewire seems a bit sparse.
I am pretty sure it has to do with the audio mixer.
I took my Dell 350 PII and I installed Debian and I got sound going with
amixer.
